There are some pretty spectacular bird sightings in north Georgia, but usually these wild creatures are around in the summer or springtime. So when a local advertising firm saw a brightly-colored lovebird outside their office, they knew that it had probably flown the coop.
Amanda Alberstadt spotted the small parrot outside her ground-level office in Kennesaw on Tuesday afternoon. She admits that it was almost love at first sight.
"I'm not a huge bird person but he's...he was, I don't know, he just kind of stuck on me. He was just sweet," said Alberstadt.
Amanda and her co-workers knew right away, that it wasn't a wild bird.
"The fact that he didn't run away, we knew that he had been around people and someone was probably looking for him," Alberstadt said.
So the office decided to take action, first making the bird feel safe and comfortable.
"We have food and all kinds of toys and we made him right at home," said Crissie Roberts.
The lucky bird seems to have gotten lost in the right place at the right time.
"I'm sure he's looking for his home, but feeling pretty good for being home away from home," Roberts said.
But the love story will hopefully have a happy ending. The office has made a sign that's being posted in the area of Robert Boulevard and Cobb Place.
While they'd love a new mascot, they know the lost lovebird probably missing his owner.
"It feels like you're facing a ridiculous task because this guy is ridiculously sweet and someone's probably missing him," said Alberstadt.
