BAGDAD, Ariz. -
A high school student was arrested by Yavapai County Sheriff's deputies Tuesday after threatening to shoot his school principal.
18-year-old Cable Folan was taken into custody at his home in Bagdad Tuesday afternoon.
Early Tuesday, deputies were contacted by the Bagdad Superintendent of Schools regarding threats made by Folan in a series of text messages.
YCSO says that Folan was unhappy with perceived treatment by Bagdad High School administrators and being told he likely would not graduate at.
In the texts, Folan referred specifically to physical assault and shooting the principal. He allegedly has a history involving threats and inappropriate behavior in school.
School staff took the threats very seriously because of his past behavior.
Deputies acted quickly to secure the school and obtain a search warrant to Folan's home. They say he admitted to sending the texts because he was upset, but claimed he had no intent to carry out the threats.
There were several firearms in the home but Folan claimed he did not have a key to their storage closet.
Deputies contacted Folan's dad and took custody of his firearms. They also seized a marijuana plant, marijuana, and paraphernalia in Folan's care.
They served a search warrant on Folan's mother's home and recovered additional firearms that were accessible to the suspect.
Folan was booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center on charges of interfering with an education institution, threatening and intimidating, possession of marijuana, cultivating marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
