St. Bede Church in Southfield merged with St. Ives in 2007. In 2013 Walmart wants to build a store on the site.
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -
The Archdiocese of Detroit is trying to sell the 75,000-square-foot property that once housed the Church of St. Bede. Fox 2 has learned the sale is pending.
The church is located on the northwest corner of Southfield and 12 Mile Rd.
The thought of the big box store has some residents in Southfield worried about traffic, road damage, neighborhood safety and residential property value.
To address the issue the City of Southfield is holding two public hearings on Monday 1/28 at the City Hall building on Evergreen Rd. 1st meeting is at 3pm; the second at 7pm.
