LITTLE CREEK, Del. -
Authorities searching for a single-engine, fixed-wing plane that vanished from radar Sunday night in Delaware located the fatal crash scene several hours later.
State police say the plane went missing shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday night.
According to the state police, the plane went off radar after an emergency call was placed to the control tower on Dover Air Force Base.
Police, firefighters from several local departments and members of the Department of Natural Resources' Fish and Wildlife Division focused their search in the area of Bayside Drive and North Little Creek Road in Little Creek.
Shortly before 11 p.m. came word that the wreckage had been found and one fatality was confirmed. That person was believed to be the pilot, who was likely flying alone, authorities said.
