Cross County, Ark., Sheriff J.R. Smith has confirmed they have found Shelia Karow's body.
Ms. Karow and her husband, David, both of Monticello, were pulled over Saturday evening at an Exxon gas station on Arkansas Highway 1 in Cherry Valley.
David Karow was arrested on outstanding warrants from another county. Ms. Karow, 41, was free to go. Soon after, Sheriff Smith told FOX13 News she called 9-1-1, telling a state trooper she was lost and her head was bleeding.
"He said, 'Where are you?,' she said, 'I'm either in a camper or a bus. Someone locked the door and I can't get out,'" Sheriff Smith said.
A criminal investigator pinged Ms. Karow's phone off an AT&T tower in Cherry Valley, but because the cell phone died or lost service, the investigator was unable to pull an exact location.
The search for Ms. Karow took to the air Tuesday with the help of Arkansas State Police.
"This morning state police sent over their helicopter and from 8 a.m. to about an hour ago (4 p.m.), flew over the north part of the county but there was no sign of her car," Sheriff Smith said.
An autopsy will be performed on Ms. Karow to determine the exact cause of death.
