LANSING, Mich. (WJBK) -- Governor Rick Snyder and state Treasurer Andy Dillon are laying the groundwork for a potential emergency manager for the city of Detroit.

FOX 2 political analyst Tim Skubick says Dillon has floated three names as potential candidates to take over the cash-strapped city: Charles Beckham, Charlie Williams (not pictured) and Freman Hendrix.

All three have strong roots in the city. Hendrix is a former deputy mayor who ran against Kwame Kilpatrick in 2005. Williams is a veteran of the Robert Ficano and Coleman Young administrations. Beckham left the Bing administration in 2010 where he worked as chief administration officer.

Skubick says the names are being floated around to community leaders in the city, including Rev. Wendell Anthony, to get the pulse of the people.

Skubick says Snyder has not made a final decision on whether or not to appoint an emergency manager, but he wants to be prepared. We could learn more after his financial review team submits its report to him on Friday.

If the current review determines the city is in a financial emergency, Snyder could appoint a manager to take over the restructuring job Mayor Dave Bing is trying to complete.
