PHILADELPHIA -
Surveillance video captured vandals as they slashed the tires of more than 40 cars overnight in a West Philadelphia neighborhood.
Police say residents found the tires slashed on at least 48 cars between the 4900 block and the 5100 block of Hazel Avenue and on the 5300 block of Chancellor Street.
Video of the slashings was obtained by police Monday from a nearby store.
It's not clear exactly when the tire slashings happened.
On Monday night, Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey announced a $5,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the suspects responsible for the slashings, courtesy of the Mayor's Office.
An additional $5,000 was offered just for the arrest of the suspect or group responsible by Fraternal Order of Police President John McNesby.
"We urge anyone with information about this criminal act to come forward and help us put an end to this senseless and hurtful crime," a statement read.
If you have any information, you're asked to call 911 or Southwest Detectives at 215-686-3183.
