Detroit's crime problem may be part gun, part economy, part leadership or lack of leadership, but it's my view that the solution is right there behind our closed doors.
Detroit's crime problem may be part gun, part economy, part leadership or lack of leadership, but it's my view that the solution is right there behind our closed doors with each and every one of us leading by example, teaching lessons of life and setting a standard.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -- Recenly released numbers show there were over 400 homicides in Detroit during 2012.

"America has a problem with guns, but the epicenter seems to be here in Detroit," said Interim Detroit Police Chief Chester Logan.

"If I had a thousand more police officers, in the city of Detroit the way things are right now, I don't know what kind of impact that would have."

So what's the solution to the violence?

Joining Huel Perkins and Charlie Langton on our panel to discuss are:

Benny Napoleon, the current Wayne County sheriff, a possible candidate for mayor of Detroit and the city's former police chief.

Jalal Malik-Ikram, a retired Detroit police officer and leader of the group Mothers of Murdered Children.

John Bennett, a current Detroit police officer who also writes and edits the Detroit Uncovered website.
