OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. (WJBK) -- Oakland County got out ahead of the storm. Crews had a game plan going into today to try to keep the streets safe and clear. Now it's snow plows versus snowfall.
The snow hit Oakland County hard covering the roads and slowing down traffic.
It didn't take long to see flashing lights in the snowy haze. Winter weather made for some treacherous driving conditions in Oakland County. Traffic crept along as the roads got harder and harder to see.
The Oakland County Road Commission says crews will be out in full force Wednesday night with 106 trucks on the road. The full fleet will be hitting the roads during rush hour and through 11:00 p.m. Crews will then break, heading back to work at 2:00 a.m. to tackle the morning commute. For most, it's a 16 hour shift.
Crews will pay special attention to busy Oakland county roads such as Telegraph, Big Beaver and Southfield.
Mike Momany from Garden Solutions and Maintenance is more concerned about the parking lots so you can keep shopping.
"We're monitoring the walks. I just threw some salt on them to try to keep them wet when the snow is coming down this hard. It is going to be hard to keep the snow off, so we'll keep an eye on them," he said.
