The story of a North Carolina family on a quest to adopt a teenager from Ukraine has come to a happy ending.

Last month, FOX 29's Bruce Gordon helped Reagan Mountain cut through the red tape to replace a passport lost or stolen at Philadelphia International Airport.

With help from Congressman Bob Brady, the Mountain family got to Ukraine in time for an important adoption meeting.

FOX 29 has stayed in touch with the family as it worked through the adoption process in Ukraine.

We're happy to report the family's adoption of 16-year-old Liza is now official.

The family says Liza has chosen Elizabeth Reagan Mountain as her American name.

The Mountains still face bureaucratic challenges getting her home from Ukraine, but they hope to be back in the United States with their new daughter by around Christmas.
