Milford community bands together to show Newtown support

Posted: Updated:
MILFORD, Mich. (WJBK) -

People in Milford say they feel like Newtown is a community a lot like their own. It's small, tight knit - and violence is the last thing they're worried about. Sunday they held a candlelight vigil to show respect for those precious children, and brave women who's lives were stolen.

What happened inside Sandy Hook Elementary School Friday has shaken all of us to our very core. And while investigators search for answers, communities like Milford are left searching for peace.

So they're doing it the only way they can - by coming together.

Alan Coloske organized the vigil Sunday night. He was assisted by students from Milford High who posted it on Facebook. The vigil was held in the school's parking lot.

The event included an abundance of prayers and love for a community struggling through the aftermath of unspeakable violence.

Watch the video to see the full report, and hear from the people who attended the vigil.
