Appeals court upholds daughter's murder conviction

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -

An appellate court has upheld the murder conviction of a Memphis woman in the 2005 stabbing death of her mother.

According to The Commercial Appeal, the ruling affirms the second-degree murder conviction of Noura Jackson, who is now 25. Jackson was 18 when her mother, 39-year-old Jennifer Jackson, was stabbed more than 50 times in the family's home.

Jennifer Jackson was an investment banker and a single mother.

The defense had argued the crime had no eyewitnesses and there was so forensic evidence linking the daughter to it.

Prosecutors countered that there was no sign of a break-in at the Jackson home the night of the murder and that Noura Jackson appeared to have showered and changed clothes before going for help.
