6 Accused Of Filing False SEPTA Bus Accident Claims

Six people face filing charges of filing false personal injury claims in connection with an incident where a woman tripped on a SEPTA bus in November 2010, prosecutors said Monday.

According to the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office, the Route 56 bus was pulling into the Wakeling Street stop on Torresdale Avenue on Nov. 25, 2010 when a woman tripped and fell while walking to the rear of the bus.

Investigators say the woman who fell refused to be treated at the scene, even though paramedics were made available to her.

Following the accident, the D.A.'s office says six people and the woman who tripped filed personal injury claims against SEPTA.

Video surveillance cameras from the bus revealed there was no accident or movement by the bus that would explain the woman's fall or the claims, investigators said.

In fact, prosecutors say only two of the seven people who filed claims were actually on the bus at the time.

Clarence Wright, Jr., 62, Joseph Anderson, 59, Jeanette Somerville, 56, Donnell Green, 47, Bernard Robinson, 62 and 52-year-old Rubin Lindsay now face insurance fraud, criminal conspiracy and other related charges, authorities said.
