Woman charged for 'fabricating' sexual assault

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

Memphis police say a report of sexual assault near The University of Memphis is false. MPD arrested Anne Campbell, 19, and charged her with False Reports.

On Tuesday officers received a complaint in the 500 block of Zach Curlin regarding 19-year-old Campbell being sexually assaulted by a 19- to 20-year-old white male wielding a gun. MPD says they were told the incident occurred Monday at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the 3600 block of Mynders.

A further investigation by the Sex Crimes department at MPD revealed that the incident did not occur and that Campbell "fabricated the details" surrounding the incident, says MPD.
