DETROIT (WJBK) -- Detroit Police are searching for a killer, who shot a man and woman inside a house on the city's west side.  The man died, but the woman survived.

"I was upstairs just waking up, getting ready to go to work, and then all hell broke lose in my home," said Darrell Sylvester. (pictured)

"Somebody came into my home through the side door and my daughter was here and the next thing I (knew) I heard gunshots."

"The (paramedics) got my daughter to the hospital and the other gentleman was deceased."

His daughter was transported to Sinai-Grace Hospital.  Her father is not sure if she will survive.

"She not doing too good right now.  It's just devastating."

Police spent much of Wednesday morning looking for evidence, collecting shell casings and fingerprints.

Sylvester believes his daughter knew her shooter, indicating this was a domestic dispute.

"It was senseless," he said.  "I don't know what happened with the third party.  All I just know is it shouldn't have happened."

The family told us they know who is responsible for the shooting and that they gave that information to police.
