Thanksgiving is behind us, but many of us might still be feeling the regret over all of the food we ate this past week.
Dr. Mehmet Oz of the "Dr. Oz Show" appeared on the FOX 29 News at 5 with some tips on what people can to do trim down and keep the weight off leading up to Christmas.
Eating and holiday parties:
Dr. Oz says first off, no two fisted eating or drinking - that means if you're at a holiday party, make sure to keep a hand free of any foods or beverages.
Also, before going to a party, Dr. Oz recommends you eat something with protein in it, such as nuts or peanut butter, about 30 minutes before. The protein will help to cut the desire to overindulge.
Sleep:
Sleep also plays a big role during the holidays.
Dr. Oz says many people sleep terribly because of changing schedules. Dr. Oz recommends you get at least seven hours of sleep - the more sleep the less you eat.
Splurging:
As far as splurging, Dr. Oz says it's okay to splurge for at least one meal.
The reason we pack on the pounds over the holidays is because we get into a rut and make the same mistakes each day, and without realizing it, we gain a couple extra hundred calories that can lead to weight gain, Dr. Oz said.

Rain moved in Saturday afternoon and the chance for it will stick around through the seven day forecast.
It becomes very unsettled across our area with clounds and showers again Sunday. The best chance for rain is in the morning and afternoon thunderstorms are possible towards our south.
Sunday is cool but we do warm up well into the 80s by Tuesday. With the warm weather comes a better chance for thunderstorms.
