Bus Riders Union wants to know why direct service to Southland Greyhound Park
was canceled. The group met with MATA
last night. Earlier this month the group
released video of where bus to Southland stopped. It was dropping people off on a busy service
road. Their complaint, is that riders
now have to walk along the interstate, to get to the dog track.
The group says they just want some answers. "All we wanted was some simple answers."
MATA says their direct route was dumped because of West Memphis. The Bus Riders' Union says they plan to keep fighting until something is done.
The Memphis Bus Riders Union protesting a change made by MATA to its Southland route in West Memphis. A You Tube video showed MATA bus riders being dropped off on the side of a highway exit where there is no sidewalk. Passengers are then forced to walk a mile stretch to Southland Park's Gaming and Racing Center beside a dangerous highway.
The Memphis Bus Riders Union say it has shot another undercover video and the problem has done the opposite of improve.
Members also say they plan to post their latest findings on Youtube as well. The group is also planning to attend a MATA board meeting scheduled for 3:30 today at the company's headquarters on Levee.
