PHILADELPHIA -

Philadelphia Police have responded to a video posted on YouTube that shows a police officer hitting a man with a baton during an arrest in North Philadelphia.

The suspect appears to be struggling with other officers during the incident. It's not clear what happened before the camera started rolling.

In a statement, police say the suspect is 41-year-old Victor Nicholas. According to police, Nicholas was arrested Monday on the 3000 block of West Cumberland Street for alleged theft.

Police say he faces Terroristic Threats, Resisting Arrest and Retail Theft charges.

Police say the YouTube video was brought to the attention of the department and the Internal Affairs Unit has now opened an investigation into the incident.
