PHILADELPHIA -
A Philadelphia family is hoping for not one, but two miracles as a father and son wait for kidney transplants.
At age 32, Joey DeMayo got the jolt of his life when an emergency trip to the hospital revealed he had a life threatening condition.
After learning he had suffered renal failure, Joey learned he would not only need dialysis but a new kidney.
The medical punch wasn't easy to take and it's not the first time the DeMayo family has had to go through it.
The family's second oldest son Michael, now 27, received a kidney from his father when he was just four, but that only lasted 12 years and another transplant from a stranger failed just six years later.
The DeMayo's know the odds in finding the perfect donor and at the right time may be against them, so for now the family waits.
You can learn more about the DeMayo family and find information on how to help on their website, FriendsoftheDeMayofamily.org.
You can also learn more about organ and tissue donation on the Gift of Life website.
