"The tragedy of this whole thing is just the potential of what he could have become is now gone and will never be repeated," said Thomas DiSabatino about his son who he will never get to see grow to be the man he could've been.
"I will always miss him and never forget him," said DiSabatino. Someone shot his 20-year old Pete Monday night near where he lived at the Studio Green West Apartments in Newark Delaware. Police don't believe the shooting was random and neighbors said they heard Pete arguing with someone in the parking lot outside his apartment before gunshots rang out. Pete's family was surrounded by a large group of his friends and neighbors during a candlelight vigil Tuesday night outside his apartment.
"The person that did this certainly doesn't have any idea of what the value of human life is," said DiSabatino. He said his son was on his way to becoming something great. The two saw a movie and had dinner Friday. They talked about his future. DiSabatino said, "He said he wanted to be an entrepreneur and maybe do a little work in the entertainment business and I had bought him some books."
The 20-year old was also a student at the University Of Delaware's academic center in Wilmington. Alan Horowitz was his Sociology professor and said, "Pete would've been in my class at 11 Tuesday morning."
Pete's family said they are not bitter and aren't the type of people to seek revenge but they do want justice. His oldest sister Natalie said, "It's unfortunate because we're not the only people who lost a family member. They also lost a family member if the person is convicted."
New Castle County Police are looking for two men in connection with the shooting.
