
Memphis police officer Byron Willis mistakenly shot fellow Officer Willie Bryant while law enforcement was executing a drug-related search warrant Nov. 8, a police department spokesperson said.

Upon entering a house in the 500 block of Arrington in North Memphis, a dog charged the officers. Officer Willis, 43, shot once toward the canine with a shotgun, but accidentally struck Officer Bryant in the back.
Officer Bryant, 32, remains in critical but stable condition, police said.
Officer Willis has been employed by the Memphis Police Department since July 2012. He was relieved of duty Nov. 8 pending an internal investigation.
