It happened on Henry St. The victim was rushed to the hospital, but did not survive. The city of just 25,000 people is struggling to keep police on the streets and criminals locked up, but it's growing increasingly difficult. In July, half the police force was laid off.

According to the city of Inkster web site, violent crime jumped 311 percent from 2010-2011. So far this year, a dozen people have been murdered. With dwindling resources, the police department can no longer afford to be proactive.

Police are asking for the public's help to solve the city's latest homicide. If you know anything, call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-SPEAKUP (1-800-773-2587)
