Medical examiner rules on cause of death of Millington football player

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

Fox13 has obtained the autopsy report on 15 year old Dana Payne.

He's the Millington Central High School football player who died after taking a hit during practice in August.

The report says the manner of death is undetermined.

The medical examiner's opinion says the cause of death was bronchial asthma.

Microscopic examination of the lungs revealed that asthma.

The report says the impact to the stomach, contributed to it.

Dana also had a prior medical history of asthma.

The report says he was taking two types of medication, one was used to prevent asthma attacks, the other, a muscle relaxer which helps boost air flow to the lungs.

After Dana was hit, paramedics tried to revive him.

He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
