Mississippi daycare scanning system delayed
The start of a child finger scanning system at child care facilities in Mississippi has been delayed.
The system would require parents who benefit from federally subsidized vouchers to scan their fingerprints to check their children in or out.
The delay comes after a Jackson Child Care Center owner filed a lawsuit this week.
The suit claims the Department of Human Services acted illegally by proposing a rule about the scanners without taking into consideration the cost.
Yesterday, a judge ruled DHS must restart the rule making processes meaning it will be mid-December before the system can be implemented.
