Bianca Jones' relatives testify at her father's murder trial

Posted: Updated:

DETROIT -- Jerry Weaver, uncle of 2-year-old Bianca Jones, testified in court Thursday that the day she disappeared, her father, D'Andre Lane, showed up at his house frantic, crying and claiming he had been carjacked.  He said his daughter was missing.

"'Oh my god, they've got her,' and I was like, 'Got who? Who are you talking about?'  And he was just like, 'They got her.'  He just kept repeating it."

Weaver called the police because he said Lane had not.

Bianca's grandmother also testified that Lane was hysterical that day.  She said she couldn't get a straight answer from him and she had never seen him so frantic.

"He was crying or hysterical or whatever... and I couldn't get (anything) out of him," said Lila Jones Weaver.

She broke down in tears when asked about conversations she had with her 2-year-old granddaughter.

Defense attorneys were angry when Bianca's grandmother questioned Lane when she left the stand, asking him over and over again where was Bianca.

When Carol Nevers took the stand, the room was quiet.  She is Bianca's aunt and said Lane was like a son to her.  She said Lane never wanted Bianca to be born and he paid about $200 for an abortion.

"He didn't have a problem with letting everyone in the family really know that 'I didn't want her.  I don't have any money to help her.  I told her not to have Bianca.'  That's just the way it went."

The trial will continue on Tuesday.
