A big round of applause for civic minded business leaders who are coming through with shoes and other products to get the kids into school today so they can be counted.
It's all about the money. If enrollment is up today, more money flows into the schools from Lansing. And we all know how important that is.
But it's my view that lost in all of this is the word "responsibility".
Where is the responsibility on the part of the parents to make sure their kids get to school every day, not just today.
And where's the responsibility on the part of the students to make sure "they" get to school every day. After all that's their job, their responsibility, not to mention it's the law.
So what's the lesson that is learned today? That it's okay to break the law and if you do it over and over and over again you may be offered a bribe to change your ways for just one day.
