DETROIT (WJBK) -

Detroit Police homicide investigators and a cadaver dog searched Tuesday for the torso and the rest of the remains of 34-year-old Casey Durham. He was last seen last week.

Monday night, Detroit Police found his head and hands inside garbage bags inside an abandoned and burned out home on Leslie and Lawton on the city's west side. He had been shot in the head and dismembered.

Charles Durham said his nephew was just released from prison a few months ago where he had been serving time since the late nineties for armed robbery.

"He seemed to be on the right track doing pretty well, but he started affiliating with some strange people," Durham explained. "And then this happened."

Likely drug-related, now police are looking for Durham's torso and his killer in a neighborhood that was once so nice, but is now burdened and blighted with abandoned houses and crime.

Police are asking anyone with anyone with any information to help them solve this case. You can remain anonymous and call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
