On Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at approximately 3:50 p.m., officers responded to a Shooting call at the Westwood Community Center located at 810 Western Park. Upon arriving on the scene, officers located 18-year-old Devail Lewis lying behind the community center with multiple gunshot wounds. An ambulance was called to the scene and Lewis was pronounced deceased.
On Friday, September 28, 2012, Homicide Investigators found that 17-year-old Darnavius Wayne was responsible for this crime. Wayne remains at large and currently has an active warrant for his arrest for First Degree Murder. Homicide Investigators need help locating Darnavius Wayne. Anyone with information concerning his whereabouts should call Crime Stoppers or 545-COPS.
