HARDEMAN COUNTY, Tenn. (Fox13) -

The mother and wife of killer Adam Mayes were in court on Monday where shocking new details came to the surface. Mary and Teresa Mayes each face two counts of Especially Aggravated Kidnapping. Teresa Mayes also faces two counts of First Degree Murder.

Adam Mayes killed himself on April 27 when police tracked him down along with two sisters, Alexandria and Kyliyah Bain. Police say Adam Mayes kidnapped the girls after killing their older sister and mother.

"Adam began planning the kidnapping over a year ago, that I know of, and told me he and 12-year-old Alex talked about it while she lived in Arizona," said TBI agent Valerie Troutt while reading from a statement made by Teresa Mayes.

According to Teresa, her husband's plot to kill started with a poisonous cocktail given to Joann Bain's husband Gary Bain on the night of April 26.

"Joann was supposed to drink one too, but she fell asleep beforehand, so Adam gave Gary the drink intended for Joann," read Troutt from Teresa's statement. "Adam walked into Gary's bedroom and got Joann up, he had her walk out to the shop using the story of Kyliyah sleep walking. Once he got her out to shop, he hit her head with a 2X4, he said this didn't phase her, Adam said she fought while he strangled her with rope."

Teresa says Adam smothered the eldest daughter, Adrienne Bain. During the killings, Teresa says she drove the youngest Bain girls in her SUV.

"Kyliyah was crying and Alex was telling Kyliyah she was going to be Kyliyah's new mom and Adam was going to be Kyliyah's new dad."

According to Teresa, Adam's motivation behind the crimes was his love for Alexandria, who was soon moving back to Arizona with the family.  While Teresa says she watched Adam load two bodies into their Dodge Durango, she says she didn't know the details of what happened until after the pair was later buried.

Adam's mother, Mary Mayes admitted to helping her son five days after the girls were reported missing.  She says she picked up Adam and the girls, and later dropped them off in the woods.

"Our client has already said she didn't know they were kidnapped," claims Mary Mayes' attorney Terry Dycus.

The TBI says Teresa and Mary Mayes lied to investigators before fessing up more than a week after the disappearance.  Teresa says Adam was proud of his plan, which was detailed inside the Bain home.

"Had to stop back by the Bain house because Alex had forgotten backpack, her pink notebook which had all of Adam's plan for he and Alex to be together," read Trout.
