Elderly man dies in north Memphis fire

A 91-year-old man died as the result of a pre-dawn house fire in north Memphis, fire officials said.

The house fire took place in the 1500 block of Sunset just after 1:10 a.m.

Three residents were inside the home at the time of the fire. Two were able to escape the fire safely, a Memphis fire official said.

It is unclear if there were any working smoke detectors.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
