A Mackham Avenue homeowner returning to his residence early Friday morning was shot by a black male after encountering the suspect inside his home, Memphis police said.
The victim had been shot at around 3 a.m., after the homeowner arrived home and noticed his front door had been open.

The suspect, described wearing a black hoodie, black shirt and gray jeans, fled the Oakhaven neighborhood on foot.
The homeowner was transported to The MED and is listed in stable condition after being shot.
The case remains under investigation.
This is the second reported home invasion shooting in the past 24 hours around the Bluff City.
