On Oct. 18 the Harwood Center of Memphis will be holding its 8th Annual Beer and Food Tasting at the Botanic Garden.

The center has been around almost 55 years. They have several locations. One is at Hope Church on Walnut Grove.
Claire Moss is the executive director of Harwood. She came to Harwood and never left.
"We are a specials pre school program in the very low teacher student ratio. We have highly qualified teachers with two assistants in each class room with a max of eight children," she said. "Very low ratio teacher to children," explains Moss. "Our goal here is to teach children function skills and show parents how to carry on at home so home life is more successful."
The beer and food tasting fundraiser is really about some very special kids and some very special teachers who count on donations from all kinds of big foundations and community minded businesses.
