U.S. Congressman Steve Cohen of Memphis has co-sponsored a bill that would make horse soring a felony.
Horse soring is when a horse trainer injects a chemical into a horse to make it raise its hooves higher during walking competition.
The practice gained infamy in the Mid-South when a longtime local horse trainer got caught on video soring a horse. He's since been banned from competition.
Congressman Cohen says his bill is aimed at ridding the practice from all states.
