Violent weekend in Ann Arbor

Posted: Updated:
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WJBK) -

Just before the start of a new school year, Ann arbor police have been busy responding to several vicious assaults.

After a quiet summer, the party is back on in Ann Arbor as thousands of students return for another year of school. Some have already had their first lesson in violence.

Elliot Fink was hanging out with his friends when a fight broke out in a parking lot below  their apartment building. They captured the entire incident on a cell phone.

The video is dark, but you can still see several women throwing a trash can at a 45-year-old pizza restaurant worker.  They also hit him with a broom, and shovel and then he hits back. Two women were arrested in the incident.

The assault on Willard street was one of several over the weekend.

A 19 year old woman told police while she was walking along Washtenaw ave, a man came up from behind and grabbed her 'private parts.'

Not far away, in the 500 block of Walnut Street, a 20 year old man had to be treated at the hospital after five guys beat him up outside a house party.

One of the most violent attacks over the weekend happened at a Fraternity house on South State Street.

Witnesses say some guys approached the house with the intention of robbing it.  They never made it inside after they were met resistance at the door.  A big fight erupted on the lawn.

The result, Daniel Zambler will be be studying with a bruised eye, while another fraternity brother recovers from more serious injuries, a broken orbital bone.  The injury potentially may cost him his vision.

Ann Arbor police are working  to track down six suspects involved in the assault at the fraternity house.
