Thursday night, the Shelby County School Board will take the first step to finding a superintendent for the new unified system.
The school board members will appoint sic of their own to head up the superintendent search committee.
The committee won't choose the Superintendent, but instead lay out the process for finding the right man or woman for the job.
The board will conduct a nationwide search.
Current Shelby County Superintendent John Aitken has said he would like to be considered for the job.
