LSU coach Les Miles won't close the door completely on the possibility of Tyrann Mathieu playing football for LSU again in 2013.
Miles, who met with reporters after Tuesday's practice, says he is "not in any way speculating" about whether Mathieu could conceivably play for the Tigers again. He says he can only guarantee the All-America cornerback and Heisman Trophy finalist won't be on this year's team, adding he has "no idea beyond that."
Miles says he's ready to put his emphasis back on preparing the Tigers for the upcoming season, which opens Sept. 1 against North Texas.
When Mathieu was dismissed on Friday, reportedly for repeated failed drug tests, Miles said he expected Mathieu to transfer and play this season at the second-tier FCS level.
