DEARBORN, Mich. (WJBK) -

The pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Dearborn is on administrative leave after he was arrested last week and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and indecent exposure.

The Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit confirms Rev. Peter Petroske was alone and was not wearing any clothes when he was arrested on Aug. 2 by Dearborn police.

"The Archdiocese takes such matters seriously and is cooperating fully with law enforcement. This is a difficult time for the parish community and we ask for prayers for all who are impacted," the Archdiocese said in a statement.

Archdiocesan officials say they met with parish staff to inform them of Father Petroske's leave of absence.

Father Robert Blondell, a retired priest for the Archdiocese has been named temporary administrator of Sacred Heart Parish and will oversee day-to-day operations.

Petroske will be arraigned Aug. 14.

The parish's website says Petroske was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and was ordained in 1984.
