Millington Mayor Linda Carter says they are exploring every option available after the city passed their municipal school district but not the sales tax to pay for it.
Carter says their attorneys have contacted the Election Commission about a recount regarding the sales tax.
She says she is also asking them to take a close look at ballots cast in Lucy, saying those in Lucy should not have voted for Millington issues.
"We have indications that perhaps some of the ballots that were cast included Millington races and Lucy overwhelmingly voted against the sales tax issue and so we're asking that they look very carefully at those," she says.
Carter says they are looking to put another referendum on the November ballot for a sales tax to fund the municipal school district. She says if a sales tax does not pass, citizens may have to pay a $1.00 increase on their property taxes.
