Pets killed in arson fire

EASTPOINTE, Mich. (WJBK) -

An Eastpointe woman loses seven of her animals in a house fire. And it was no accident. It's believed the innocent animals were the target.

Amanda Bell was forced to move out of her Eastpointe home when an arsonist set it on fire. More heartbreaking to her, the pets that died when they were trapped inside.

Bell loves animals. She is on a mission to rescue them and find them a loving home. She had seven in her house on Shakespeare Avenue the night it caught fire. There were 2 cats, 2 kittens she found in a dumpster and three dogs, including a little puppy.

This past week, she was at her house with friends when one of her dogs upset an acquaintance. Amanda believes that man came back while she and her friends went to get something to eat, broke into the house, grabbed a comforter, set it on the stove and let it burn.

Amanda's not as worried about the material items. Getting over losing her four legged friends will take much longer.

We're told the Eastpointe police are now investigating the arson. The suspect will be called in for questioning. If he refuses, police could issue a warrant for his arrest.
