Detroit, Windsor firefighters compete in international tug of war

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) -

The lines were drawn.  Detroit Fire versus Windsor Fire on the Detroit River.  The tradition was started 27 years ago in 1985.  Friday, 24 of the strongest firefighters from both cities battled it out in the only international tug of war.

Windsor firefighters won in 2011.  Detroit was working Friday to bring the trophy back to the United States.  Fox 2's Ron Savage even got to take part.

It was one tough tug.  Both sides worked hard.  Windsor and Detroit gave it their all, but when it was over, Detroit Fire won the tug of war.
