Jacquoia Fowler, a mother of one of the alleged victims, let loose a string of profanity aimed at North Mississippi district Boy Scout Director William Todd Brewer as he was led into court on charges of child porn and sexual battery of three children.
But, Southaven's Angie Walthall feels differently, "He actually runs the youth protection program and makes sure that every one of the leaders go through the youth protection that is, to make sure the boys are protected from predators of any nature."
Walthall's two sons have gone to camp with Brewer for three summers.
"They have said there is absolutely nothing shady about him, or anything about him while they were with him," she claims.
But, a different picture is emerging from Brewer's Senatobia home and neighborhood. The Tate County Sheriff's Department confiscated child pornography from Brewer's home and charged him with three counts of sexual battery of a child.
Some neighbors say brewer used a substance on the kids he sexually abused. The Sheriff's Department backs that up.
"I can't speak to the specifics of that, but I can give you confirmation that we have information that is similar to that. I can't say what the kids may or may not have been given, but I can confirm we have information that that was what was going on," says Brad Lance with the Sheriff's Department.
Brewer's house backs up right to the Senatobia Middle School playground.
Senatobia resident Benny Flynn says, "Monday or Tuesday of last week we saw 6-8 kids, 12, 13, or 14 years old, they were just coming in and out of the house, we just thought that's where the kids hang out when school was out."
Right now, Brewer's Senatobia home is empty, as is his job position with the Boy Scouts. For now, he resides in the Tate County jail with no bond.
"You know I don't know his past as far as his work with the boy scouts on a day to day basis, I can't answer that question, all I know is we have solid proof to charge him with what we have charged him with," says Lance.
"I just know that this is not him, the charges that have been brought against him, is not what we have seen over the past 4 years he has been around the kids constantly," says Walthall.
