A local prosecutor whose son was killed in combat in Iraq while fighting with the Georgia National Guard has resigned his volunteer Guard position.
The Coweta County solicitor says he resigned in protest because he can not work under people he feels were appointed purely for political reasons.
Robert Stokely was responding to the findings of an I-Team investigation of Gov. Nathan Deal's appointments of a his one-time floor leader and the son of his former law partner as adjutant general and deputy adjutant general in the Georgia National Guard.
