(Source: Flickr)Of more than 7,000 kids studied, researchers found more than a third failed to get sufficient amounts of calcium and vitamin D, while some were getting too much iron and vitamin A.
According to the study, kids between 9-years-old and 18-years-old had low levels of certain vitamins and minerals and most did not take supplements. Those under nine-years-old had adequate levels of most nutrients; however, some had too much of certain vitamins and minerals.
Experts say the findings suggest manufacturers need to reformulate their products to help kids meet, and not exceed, their vitamin needs.
