Memphis police have charged Maurice Brown Senior with two counts of First Degree Murder after his three-year-old son's body was discovered in a dumpster in the Medical District.
Late Sunday night, Brown Senior reported to police that his three-year-old son, Maurice Brown Junior, disappeared from their apartment.
By Monday morning, there was a full on search for the boy. Maurice Senior did a parade of interviews claiming his son was kidnapped and that he had no idea what happened to him.
"I've been into it with a lot of guys," he said. "It don't gotta come down to this, my son wouldn't walk out the yard, he wouldn't leave out the yard, somebody had to snatch my child."
Police are now claiming that was all a lie.
Brown Senior was arrested Monday and only charged with Aggravated Child Neglect or Endangerment.
Police discovered Brown Junior's badly decomposed body in a dumpster on Tuesday.
Funeral services for the boy will be on Saturday, July 7 at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. A wake will start at 11 a.m., with the homegoing celebration at 1. Brown will be buried at Elmwood Cemetery.
Brown Senior will go before a judge on Monday.
