That blistering heat wave has given way just in time for metro Detroiters - and visitors from everywhere - to kick off the 2012 Detroit River Days Festival.
All the fun and optimism folks associate with the start of summer will dance, sing, eat and entertain it's way to live Friday through Sunday.
The three-day festival, presented by the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy, features diverse and family-friendly programming with favorites like the tall ships, towering sand sculptures, eco-friendly kids' activities and more all celebrating Detroit's maritime, ecological and culinary culture, as well as live concerts
with performances by local, national and international musicians. The
Detroit Riverfront Conservancy is excited to announce that the
Department of Natural Resources is celebrating its Official Kickoff to Summer at Milliken State Park during the Detroit River Days festival.
