Were you the class clown in high school? Or are you looking at gaining a little bit more self confidence in the workplace? You might enjoy taking an improv class at Go Comedy!
Improv can help in any part of your life and you don't have to be a comedian to take a class.
"Improv is the art of making something up on stage. It's sort of the fancy version of make believe, but in front of people," said PJ Jacokes.
"Improv classes are great for a lot of different people for a lot of different reasons in that it just gets you to be comfortable in the moment and think on the spot, and then the people that have professional backgrounds, they take the skills outside of the funny and are able to apply them to their careers and it gives them an advantage."
The focus is getting outside your comfort level while supporting your fellow classmates.
"The comedy's almost a byproduct. The goal isn't to be funny. The goal is to work together as a team, and then as a team, we put people in crazy situations and then funny happens," Jacokes explained.
When you're done with the class, you gain valuable skills that you can use in real life situations.
"It's helped me a lot with my work life, dealing with clients and maybe thinking on my feet more than I used to and also speaking in front of large groups," one person told us.
"There's an intro program and an advanced, and it spans everything from the very beginning of just being comfortable playing all the way through full performances for a full audience," Jacokes said.
