The Southaven Board of Aldermen approved a trip to Biloxi for Mayor Greg Davis and he expects people will freak out.
"Well it appears that way, right now, but we have a job to do, and we are going to do and refresher courses and training courses and meeting with other mayors and councilman and all across the state," says Davis.
It's not Vegas this time, the mayor and aldermen are traveling to the white sand beaches and muddy gulf waters of Biloxi, Mississippi for the Mississippi Municipal League Conference. The conference, according to the registration, features courses on city law, development, finance, and leadership. It is scheduled June 25th-June 27th.
"I mean generally every year all of us go or a large majority of us go, it's where we receive training, and it's where we get certification by the state, and all these kinds of things that take place at the conference."
Mayor Davis says money spent on last year's Mississippi Municipal League trip was never called into question by the State Auditor's Office.
"Not to my knowledge, you know the only thing that really was called into question during the audit was documentation, all of our all of our MML trips were very well documented and so to my knowledge there hasn't been any question about it," says Davis.
The State Auditor's Office says it doesn't have independent figures on last years MML trip by Mayor Davis, and the investigation is ongoing. So, for now, what happens in Biloxi, stays in Biloxi.
