Mother's Day is fast approaching, and we have an idea for a gift from the heart and made with love. The best part? This jewelry can cost as little as five dollars and no more than $15.
Every week, a group of ladies gathers to talk, and bead. By stringing together little crystal or stone beads on a gold or silver wire they are saving money while catching up.
Welcome to Bead-Towne in Olive Branch. You can spend $15 and a little time and walk out with two pair of earrings. Or, copy that fabulous bracelet you saw for more than $100 in a catalog for less than $14.
Owner Myra Fox says she does that all the time. "It may be something you can't afford, like a designer thing, but you can do it yourself."
Patron Sara Van Houten says she spent about $3 or $4 to make her bracelets.
There are tens of thousands of beads. Gemstones, crystal, plastic, resin and glass. They come in virtually any shape or size you can imagine. You can also bring your kids to make something for mom. The ladies at Bead-Towne will show you how to make a necklace, bracelet or earrings, and in most cases, for less than the cost of buying one from a mall store.
