Southaven Alderman Ricky Jobes has been cleared of a drunken driving charge but convicted of misdemeanor careless driving.
The charges stemmed from an incident in May.
Judge Ellis Darby on Wednesday found Jobes not guilty of DUI. The Commercial Appeal reports Darby ordered Jobes to pay a $50 fine and court costs for careless driving.
Darby is a Tunica County Justice Court judge and was brought in to hear the case after the four DeSoto County Justice Court judges recused themselves because they all know the alderman.
The judge cited testimony from two DeSoto County sheriff's deputies and another witness as enough evidence to find Jobes guilty of careless driving.
