Another high profile mistake? Or not a big deal? Memphis city council woman, Janis Fullilove is once again making headlines for something she's done outside council chambers.
Fox 13's Melissa Scheffler spoke to a former colleague who said her career has taken a sad turn.
Fullilove called herself out on her latest "attention-grabber."
She admitted to dancing on a pole, in front of members of the "national black caucus of local elected leaders" during the group's party here in the bluff city. She said she was, "over the top" but, not drinking.
The spotlight found Fullilove early on in her career as a Memphis city councilwoman. She was hit with several serious driving offenses, a stint in rehab, even a formal censure from her colleges on the council.
"I pity her. And I think most people do," said Mike Fleming, a former colleague of Fullilove's.
Fleming once co-hosted a radio show with Fullilove and is disappointed to see what has become of his former colleague.
"I think that her record is certainly the reason why we're so interested in her," said Fleming.
Her record has three convictions relating to drinking and driving. Then she was involved in a car accident involving a little girl. Then she spent some time in rehab.
Recently, she pleaded guilty to providing false information while she was trying to get a replacement driver's license and now, the pole episode.
"I can only say this, this is a really tolerant place. They let her get away with so many things. Speaking for myself, I think this is ridiculous," said Flemming.
Fleming said this is out of the council's hands and, it has done all it can do to one of its own.
We asked Fullilove to appear on the show Monday and she agreed, but she did not show.
So instead syndicated radio talk show host Ben Ferguson joined us plus FOX13'S Darrell Greene went to her district, to talk to her constituents.
